Our Government

The Village is governed by a Mayor and a six-member Council. All are elected in non-partisan races held in odd-numbered years and serve four-year staggered terms. The Village has chosen the Council/Village Administrator form of government, which generally gives policy-making responsibility to the Council and administrative responsibilities, including personnel decisions, to the Village Administrator. The Village Administrator and the elected officials work hand in hand to develop sound policies, plans, and financial decisions.

Council meetings are open to the public. Council members conduct regular meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 5:30 p.m. All Council meetings are held in Village Hall, 221 E. Main St. Byesville.
